Ingrid Hay

DIRECTOR

I have been working in the travel industry for over 20 years and have owned what is now known as New Farm Travel since 2002. I am proud to work with an amazing team who focus on delivering specialist holiday packages in a professional and caring manner. Travel is my passion and I have visited all 7 continents of the world, been showered with spray by the 3 great waterfalls of the world and enjoyed watching tennis at Wimbledon, Australian, French and US Open! I also specialise in group walking holidays. I have walked/escorted many of the “Great Walks of Australia” and the smugglers walk along the Cornish coastline of Britain. Next year’s walking highlights will be 3 Capes in Tasmania and Machu Picchu in Peru.  Other travels include visiting colourful Cuba, Europe River Cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, Tauck Coach Tour of Spain, a week of French classes in Aix en Provence. Expedition Cruises around Iceland, Antarctica and the Kimberly’s have been unforgettable highlights in recent years.……………………..Just like my clients I love travel!

As an accredited CLIA cruise specialist with a passion for cruising I  pride myself and my team on the solid relationships we have with our cruiseline partners across luxury, expedition and river cruising. These partnerships enable us to deliver the right experience to you our valued client.

My love and curiosity of  travel began when I was a child in Victoria.  My aunt from New York often visited, fresh from crewing a Pan AM Jumbo Jet from the USA – she would send me postcards from the most exotic places from around the world, and she looked oh so elegant!  I was given a board game called “Pan American” where you hopped all over the world – Istanbul, Rome, Tehran to name just a few of my exotics! And so began my 44 year career in the travel industry, where I have had wonderful opportunities to discover the world of travel, meet the people, learn the cultures and experience the lifestyle.

Over the years I have seen many changes to our industry in destinations as well as the planes, trains, ships and automobiles we use to get there. My role here at New Farm Travel allows me to travel to many far away and exotic destinations, do the research then return home to share my invaluable first-hand knowledge with our valuable clients. Recent memorable trips have found me in South America exploring Patagonia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, The Amazon and Galapagos Islands.  Memories of Africa include flying into luxurious tented camps for wildlife safaris and appreciating an African sunset while enjoying sundowners on the Zambezi River. Then there are the lessons learned haggling in the souks of Marrakech.

I am very enthusiastic to work with my clients in constructing unique itineraries.  My goal is to create a bespoke journey for you, one that will exceed your expectations whether you are flying, driving, training, cruising or walking. I am passionate about cruising and am fortunate enough to be able to draw upon experience developed from having sailed on in excess of 30 ships of all sizes and types. From  small boats in Hawaii to luxury ships in Alaska, the Mediterranean, South East Asia and the Pacific, luxury river cruises in Europe and Egypt and last but not least, expedition sailing in the Kimberley. As a highly experienced and accredited CLIA cruise specialist, I am well placed to find just the right cruise for you.

I pride myself on my excellent attention to customer needs and my organizational skills make planning a breeze and I look forward to helping you - when you next plan to fly, cruise, rail and stay.

Originally from Canada, my passion for travel first started 20 years ago on a working holiday to the UK. I was amazed at how many countries were just a short flight away from London and I wanted to see them all! So far I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to over 70 countries on 6 continents.

Some of my most memorable experiences include visiting the endangered Mountain Gorillas of Uganda, floating in the Dead Sea, experiencing the Great Pyramids of Egypt, lazing on the beaches of Zanzibar, and exploring the colour and chaos of India.

I have also been on many trekking adventures, including the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island,  the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu in Peru, Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, and Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

In more recent times, my travels have taken me on family friendly adventures with my husband and two children.

I truly believe that travel opens the mind, and appreciate it means different things to each individual. I look forward to using my extensive knowledge and experience to create bespoke travel plans for you.

This year I celebrate 44 years in the travel industry. My journey began as Flight Attendant – I flew for 13 years before swapping my office in the sky for a land based office. I have always been fascinated with travelling and I still get the thrill of anticipation when I board an aircraft or ship to my next adventure.

Despite having travelled all over the world, Europe still tugs at my heart strings – whether it be discovering new destinations on a luxury river boat, exploring the winter Christmas markets or marvelling at the awesome Alps from the comfort of a Swiss scenic train. As an experienced accredited CLIA cruise specialist I am well versed with the various rivers, ships and itineraries that deliver exceptional journeys into paths and places less travelled.

The world has become so much more accessible - opening up exciting and interesting destinations and awesome experiences. There is also so much noise in the travel space that I enjoy guiding my clients through this by utilising first hand knowledge to ensure that their experience is unique and memorable for the right reasons.

I enjoy the challenge of creating complicated itineraries involving flights, cruises, tours, independent travelling and unique experiences for all age groups… and then ensuring that everything dovetails flawlessly for a premium travel experience. Personal service and attention to detail is the key to a well-planned bespoke itinerary and something I pride myself on delivering.

Travel for me is a word that sparks excitement, echoes happiness, blurs boundaries and creates meaningful connections leaving lifelong memories.

Whilst I have been lucky to travel for many years, professionally I have had over 11 years' experience as a travel specialist. After finishing school I worked a number of different jobs before heading off overseas where I found myself in The Netherlands working as an Au Pair. This gave me the opportunity to explore many countries and fall in love with Europe. Eventually returning home in 2007 I continued what I loved and started studies in Travel & Tourism. Following on from this I began work experience with a boutique travel agency and my enthusiasm and passion for the industry has only grown from there.

My travels since have extended beyond Europe to countries in South America, parts of the Middle East and Asia. Some of my greatest travel memories are hiking the Machu Pichu trail, floating in the dead sea, truffle hunting in Piedmont, cruising in the Mediterranean, walking through the tea fields in Sri Lanka and watching the sunrise over Uluru.

There is nothing better than exploring this amazing world - whether you are venturing off solo or with a loved one you will come home changed and with a new perspective on life. So if you have something on your bucket list, want to escape and get away or looking for that perfect holiday come in – I would love to make your next holiday one to remember.

Life is an adventure so get out there and travel!
